

ANTI RAGGING COMMITTEE
Anti -Ragging Committee is constituted in the college to curb the menace of Ragging and to take anti-ragging measures as per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India and University Grants Commission.
What is Ragging?
“Ragging is any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness to any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely effect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student.” Honourable Supreme Court of India.
What Constitutes Ragging?
Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
a) Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
b) Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
c) Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
d) Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
e) Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
f) Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students
g) Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
h) Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.

Ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus. With the direction of UGC & KUHS following measures have been taken to prevent ragging in the campus and hostel.

Measures for prevention of ragging:

A printed/ online under taking should be filled up and signed by the student and parent/ guardian that he/she is aware of the law regarding the prohibition of ragging as well as the punishments.

Prepare Seniors through formal anti-ragging sessions ( Signature to be obtained from the candidates ) Conduct Anti ragging campaigning through displaying Posters( showing ragging act- regulations, act and punishment, helpline) in the college & hostel Notice Board.

Conduct Seminars and role plays related to Anti ragging measures.

Provide regular counseling to fresher’s and seniors by faculty and professionals.

Encourage the students to report to the authority on incidence of ragging.

Send letter to parents (regarding Law of ragging/ punishments) and requesting parents to inform their ward to desist from indulging in ragging, when they come back at the beginning of next Academic session.

Form monitoring cell (1 mentor for 10 fresher’s and 1 mentor from higher level for 10 mentors). Whatever problems the students have can be openly discussed with their mentors.

Display of Posters containing rules and regulations of ragging/punishment in the notice board at places like corridors, dining hall, study hall etc.

Plan and implement Ant ragging measures for the next academic year.

Communication devices may be permitted in hostels, residential areas to provide to the students particularly fresher to reach out for help from teachers, parents and institution authorities.

Students can report any issues regarding ragging through their college email (antiraggingmscon@gmail.com, msconhostel@gmail.com) or can inform complaints directly to the anti-ragging helpline number (1800-1805522)/email (helpline@antiragging.in). Reporting student’s identity will not be revealed and confidentiality will be made.
Actions to be taken against students for indulging ragging
1 On getting information about ragging, Principal may convene a meeting of HODs and if the information is correct, immediately convene meeting of anti ragging committee.
2 The anti ragging committee of the college shall take an appropriate decision, with regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging on its nature and gravity.

Every single incident of ragging a first information report (F I R) must be filed by the institutional authorities with local police authorities.
